Mission Statement
The Certain Women Art Show is a Latter-Day Saint Women's Art Show, unique in that it exclusively features the work of Latter-Day Saint Women Artists. Though we are not certain of all things, we are a group of women who have faith in the divinity of Christ. And so we choose—to follow Christ, to believe in our Heavenly Parents, and to believe in the divinity that is within us all as children of God. We seek to showcase our unique perspectives as women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and highlight the diverse artistry of our collective. Knowing that our voices are stronger together than they are apart, we unite them in order to amplify our influence. By offering first-person narratives, we aim to overcome pervasive stereotypes. We are women of vision who act deliberately—we are thoughtful, strong, and certain.
New Work All work for the Certain Women Art Show is meant to be new, or never before seen. Under extenuation circumstances, we will consider work that was previously created, but it must be pre-approved by the organizers before delivering it to the exhibition.
Quality of Work Quality of work is determined by the professional mastery of chosen craft or medium, artistically utilizing the principles and elements of design, and over all execution of concept.
Originality All works must be the original design and creation of the invited artist, not including commission framing or display platforms.
Safety: We use reasonable judgement when it comes to professional display and hanging of artwork. If at any point we feel your work is unsafe to display, it will be taken out of the exhibition.

Our Mission states that we are a group of women who have faith in the divinity of Christ, who follow Christ and who believe in his capacity to return us to our Heavenly Parents. We believe in the divinity that is within us all as children of God and we seek to showcase our unique perspectives as women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sexual Orientation Our policy for eligibility regarding sexual orientation aligns with our policy on LDS Affiliation. If you are comfortable affiliating yourself with the lived experiences of women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, you are eligible to be included. If you are in this show, you will be presented as a Latter-Day Saint Woman.
Gender Identity If you are not a biologically born woman, we do not feel that we can represent your lived experience. We believe that because of these three commonalities our voices are amplified: 1)we are artists, 2)we are women, and 3)we are Latter-Day Saints. We believe our voices have more power by unifying these aspects of our lived experiences and if we were to alter this founding principle of our exhibition, our show would lose it’s integral purpose and voice in the community. We do believe that all marginalized voices deserve a platform from which to give voice to their lived experiences, but the Certain Women Art Show is not able to be that platform for all voices.
Content of Work Nudity We reserve the right to reject any piece of art if we feel it is violent, pornographic, inappropriate or offensive in anyway. However, with discretion, the beauty of the undraped human figure can be displayed in one of our exhibitions if done tastefully through art.
Content of Work Appropriate We try to create an exhibition that is family friendly and uplifting to the community. If we feel a work of art contains inappropriate content for young viewers, we will likely not include it in the show.
Content of Work Other Marginalized Issues Our founding principle is to amplify LDS Women’s voices. We try to create themes that will raise awareness of Latter-Day Saint Women’s issues, and will promote the support of women. While we do believe that all perspectives and issues deserve a platform from which to give voice to their lived experiences, the certain women art show is not able to be the platform for all issues. For clarification, this does not mean the artworks accepted cannot contain any mention of an outside issue, but that its primary focus must be in line with the given theme and purpose of the art show. We believe that artwork whose content primarily focuses on promoting other marginalized groups distracts from the purpose of the show and is incongruent with our mission. We reserve the right to reject said artwork from inclusion in the show.
Display Discretion While Certain Women strives for transparency with regards to criteria which may be grounds for artwork not to be displayed, Certain Women retains sole discretion regarding the display of artwork and may choose not to display a submitted artwork for any reason or no reason. If an artist has any questions regarding their specific piece and whether the size, content, medium, etc. of the piece will cause it to be rejected, please read through our policies and contact us if you have any questions.
