"The Metamorphosis of her" by Stephanie Kelly Clark
"Metamorphosis: the cycle of Eve and her choice in the garden and how we understand our physical bodies and the gifts given from her. Rather than viewing her decision as a fall, I reclaim it as an act of radical agency—an awakening that grants women knowledge, desire, and the power to create life in all its forms. Eve’s choice binds women to cycles of becoming: birth, loss, transformation, and wisdom. Our bodies and mind shift to a new destination and a new purpose. Menopause then emerges not as exile from womanhood, but as a spiritual threshold where creative power shifts from reproduction to leaders in revelation and shared wisdom. The butterfly’s transformation becomes a spiritual mirror for the menopal mythic bodily journey of women; that must dissolve, endure uncertainty, and ultimately re-form. Transformation requires breakdown before emergence. Hormones shift, identities evolve, and the familiar body becomes unfamiliar terrain. The chrysalis; dissolving, reshaping, and surrendering to an unseen transformation. Women experience menopause as a period of internal reconfiguration that is often misunderstood, silenced, or framed as loss. I defy the narratives that frame menopause as decline and Eve as transgression. Instead, both are honored as origins of consciousness and transformation. Menopause becomes a consecrated passage, where women step into elderhood not as silence, but as power. The butterfly stands as a symbol of spiritual ascent, resilience, and the ulmination of lived creation earned through choosing, enduring, and becoming."
